This is a Pump Pen with a brush that lets you brush on your ink or paint. This pen is ideal for drawing or painting with a brush, inking in dark areas, and doing brush lettering. Similar to a water brush pen, the rigid body permits much finer hand control.
You can use any ink or paint- if it flows, it will work. This includes India ink and acrylic paint. Nothing sticks. You can flush the pen with warm tap water. If ink or paint remains lodged in the pen, you can dislodge it with a paperclip.
You can fill the Brush Pump Pen with your favorite watercolor and paint away. You can also fill the pen with water and use it like a water brush - dip the brush into watercolor paint on your palette, blend in watercolor on your painting, or lift watercolor paint that's too dense from your paper.
The brush is made in Japan. While many artists prefer painting with sable hair, that is not suitable for a brush pen. Sable hair has scales on the sides, which help grip and hold ink or paint when you dip the brush. A brush pen needs a smoother flow over the brush hairs as the ink or paint moves from the back of the brush to the front.
You can remove the brush to clean it. You can also replace the brush when it wears down or plugs up. You can order extra brushes (in sets of two) to replace a brush that wears down or plugs up.
Gravity flow works all the time, but when you want a stronger flow, press the pump - you get what you press, from a drop to a gush. Great for inking in large black areas, or painting a solid swath of color.
The large reservoir lets you work far away from your palette of paints and not worry about running out. You can order extra reservoirs with caps that let you carry replacement colors.
Easy to clean, hard to plug up, and fun to use, the Pump Pen is ideal for anyone who likes to draw, paint, letter or sketch using artistic media.
