This Pump Pen contains the Leonardt Principal nib and feeds ink or paint to the nib like a fountain pen.
The Leonardt Principal nib is very popular with calligraphers and artists. It is designed to emulate the original Principal nib, which is a collectors item today. This nib combines the flexibility of a Gillot 303 with the strength of a Hunt 101 Imperial nib. The Hunt 101 Imperial nib is Hunt's emulation of the original Principal nib.
Our Pump Pen for Leonardt Princiapl nibs is shipped with our Perfect Fit Ink Feed, which lets you use any Principal nib and forget about dipping the nib. Our patented feed is matched precisely to the nib, and delivers the ink or paint directly to the nib for a clean and accurate flow. This lets draw without dipping.
You can insert other Pump Pen sections into this pen, including all other dip nib and our brush sections. You can insert other nibs with a shape and size similar to the Principal. You can also replace the nib if it plugs up, wears down or snaps.
You can also use any nib with a shape and size similar to the Leonardt Principal nib.
Use any ink or paint - if it flows, it will work in the Pump Pen. India ink, acrylic paint, gouache and watercolor - they all work. And nothing sticks. You can flush the pen with warm tap water. If ink or paint does dry out in the pen, you can remove it easily.
Gravity flow works most of the time, but when you want a stronger flow, press the pump - you get what you press, from a drop to a gush.
The large reservoir lets you work away from your bottle of ink and not worry about running out. You can order extra reservoirs with caps to carry replacement ink or paint.
